“And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, ‘The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!’” —Judges 6:12 (NKJV)
Did you know that God believes in you more than you could ever imagine? He truly does, and He expects you to have just as much faith in Him. The book of Judges tells the story of a young man named Gideon. God had great confidence in him, but Gideon struggled to reciprocate that faith. One day, an angel appeared to him and declared, “…The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” —Judges 6:12 (NKJV).
Instead of accepting the angel’s message, Gideon began to argue. He replied, “…If the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” —Judges 6:13 (NKJV). Did you see that?
Rather than receiving the word as a divine message, Gideon continued to vent his frustrations. When he finished, the Lord did not bother arguing with him. He simply said, “…Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” —Judges 6:14 (NKJV). Even with this direct commission, Gideon found it hard to believe. He responded, “…My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” —Judges 6:15 (NKJV).
Gideon failed to realize that the Lord was showing immense faith in him. While God saw a hero who would defeat the Midianites as one man, Gideon only saw himself as an insignificant guy from the weakest family. God believed in him, but Gideon doubted both God and himself.
Sadly, many people behave the exact same way with God today. No matter how much God reassures them of their value and potential, they find it difficult to accept. They end up walking in doubt instead of placing their faith in God the way He places His faith in them.
But as a beloved child of God, you are called to be different. God wants you to know how much faith He has in you, and He asks that you trust Him just as much. When this kind of faith is reciprocated, there is no limit to what He can do in and through you. Make a conscious decision today to see yourself from God’s perspective and believe in Him just as He believes in you. Praise God!
Today’s Rhema
When you believe in God the way He believes in you, there will be no limit to what you can achieve!
Confession for the Day
I know who I am, and I know whose I am! Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and I can achieve anything I want to achieve because God is by my side. Therefore, I go out this day to subdue and accomplish mighty things in the Lord, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
