“…my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well…”1 Timothy 1:18 (NIV)

A major misconception amongst God’s people concerning His promises is that if God has said it, it must surely come to pass. But the truth is that the fact that God said certain things about you does not mean it will happen. I know this might sound a little bogus but that’s the truth. God’s promises only come to pass in your life when you fight for it and the reason is that the moment a promise from God is released concerning you, the devil and his demons moves into action to do everything possible to make sure that the promise is frustrated. It is true they may not be able to deny you the fulfilment of God’s promises, but they would stop at nothing to delay it for as long as they can. And if nothing is done about their manipulations, the delays could go on and on for years depriving you of what God has said concerning you.

A vivid example of this truth is the case of the Israelites. God said to Abraham “…know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years…”  Genesis 15:13 (NKJV). Now, even though God said four hundred years, it did not happen that way. They stayed more than four hundred years. In Exodus 12:40, the bible says, “…now the sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years…” Did you see that? What God said to Abraham was four hundred years but they ended up staying four hundred and thirty years. Why? Because the enemy wanted them to stay longer, the enemy wanted to delay the promises of God but because they kept on crying to God, Moses was despatched to bring the out of the land. Now, this is just one of the cases in the scriptures where the promises of God was delayed by demonic forces. So to avoid such things in your own personal life, you must fight for what belongs to you. Don’t keep quiet or stay calm, contend for the promises of God for your life, through continual prayer, fasting, tithing, sowing of seeds and sacrificial giving. These are your weapons for taking delivery of that which belongs to you. Maybe God has told you or shown you that you will get a job, maybe God has shown you your future partner, maybe God has shown you the bright future that awaits you, listen it will not happen without a fight. Therefore, contend today and take back what belongs to you. Remember, every promise, every birth right, every calling, has a fight on it, either you take it by force or the enemy will deprive you of it. So do the needful. Praise God!

TODAY’S RHEMA

Every promise, every birth right, every calling, has a fight on it, either you take it by force or the enemy will deprive you of it!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

By the authority in the name of Jesus, I lay hold of all that God has in store for me, I refuse to be deprived of what rightfully and legally belongs to me because greater is He that is in me that He that is the world! Halleluiah!
