“…there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins…” Hebrews 10:26 (NKJV)

Most times when people make mistakes or sin against God, they try to beat hard and punish themselves just to pay the price for the sins they have committed. To them it’s a way of atoning for their sins, but the question is does God accept any self- inflicted punishment as an atonement for sins? Certainly not! Because you cannot atone for your own sin. There is nothing you can do in this world by yourself to atone for your sin. In fact there is nothing man can do to atone for his sin because man is already in a corrupt state after the fall of the first man Adam. So whatever it is that comes from man is already corrupted, therefore it cannot be acceptable unto God as a sin offering. However, that is the reason Jesus Christ came to this world to atone for our sins. He through His pure blood paid the price for us to be free for it is written, “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world”- 1 John 2:2 (NIV). Now, “…there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins…” Hebrews 10:26 (NKJV). What is expected of you is to believe and accept the sacrifice that Jesus Christ offered for you and appropriate it in your life. If ever you made a mistake, instead of looking to yourself as though there is something you could do, look to Jesus and appropriate the sacrifice that He offered for you to your life. Believe in it and stand in the power of it, for “…in Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us…” Ephesians 1:7-8 (NIV).
So the next time you make a mistake or stumble in the word, rather than punishing yourself, remember that Jesus Christ already took your punishment (Isaiah 53:4). Therefore, genuinely repent of the mistakes you have made, and receive the forgiveness of God into your life which has been made available for you in Christ Jesus and move on. Refuse to let that one mistake you made to define your life or future. Let the sacrifice of Jesus define your life and future and stay free from guilt. Now, by this I do not mean, you now have a license to sin, remember you are a Christian and your life should be worthy of the Gospel (Philippians 1:27). I am only saying, when you stumble, know that Jesus paid the price for you, connect to it and refrain from your mistakes. Praise God!

Jesus Christ took your punishment, accept it and take advantage of what He has done!

I believe in finished works of Jesus, I believe the sacrifice Jesus offered was offered for my sake, therefore I declare that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is speaking in my life and I am cleansed from every filth and unrighteousness in the name of Jesus. Amen!
