“Then Jesus said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.’ They immediately left their nets and followed Him.” —Mark 1:17-18 (NKJV)
Having established that we ought to follow Jesus willingly, just as the early disciples did, someone might say, “But things have changed now. Their time and our own are different, so it is not as easy as it was in those days.” As much as I would like to agree, I must differ. Times have indeed changed, but the greater truth is that true followership remains the same.
If you truly understand who Jesus is and what He has done for you, you won’t find it difficult to follow Him willingly. The challenge in the world today is that many do not understand who Jesus is or what He offers. Consequently, people often choose worldly things over the kingdom because they believe the world offers better benefits. Unknown to them, in pursuing the benefits of the world, they lose much more than they gain.
However, your case ought to be different. Make a conscious decision to follow Jesus for who He is and what He has done for you. Do not put material gains first; rather, put Jesus and the kingdom first, and everything you desire will come to you easily without struggle. I know this might sound too good to be true, but here is what the Bible says:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” —Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
Take this truth seriously today and follow Jesus willingly. Make sacrifices for Him, not the other way around. Your life will go from glory to glory because when we follow Jesus, He shapes us into the people the Father destined us to be. Hallelujah!

Prayer
I thank You, Father, for the love You have toward me. I declare that I am not selfish, and neither is the love I have for You self-seeking. I do not follow You because of what I can get, but because of who You are to me. I declare that my relationship with You is more important to me than anything else in this world, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
