“….for I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it…” Luke 7:8 (NKJV)

Many people don’t understand what it means to have a commander or be in command. Being in the army means, you have subjected yourself to the commanding officer of the army and you do exactly as you are told. This sounds rather harsh but that’s why it’s the army. Until and unless we understand that the Kingdom of God functions like the army, it would be really hard to fit in, and always get the results we want. We have too many who have enlisted themselves into the army of God Most High, yet they find it hard to do exactly as they are told by their commanding officers. Many feel they can just leave if they are not okay with the command of their chief. An army is a place where the only thing you are allowed to do is, “Obey”.

Now, the opening scripture shows us the conversation of the Roman centurion with our Lord Jesus Christ. And I just love this Roman centurion and his understanding of authority. It was because he understood what authority meant that he was able to deal with Jesus with such great faith. Let’s examine the story. Jesus Christ was on the way to the house of the roman centurion to heal his servant. But the centurion said sir that’s not necessary. I understand authority because when I speak, my servants carry out my instructions immediately without asking a question. He was saying, I get everything done immediately I speak. So you, Lord, being the Lord over all spirits, you just have to speak and they will respond, without questions. He was saying you, Lord, can get everything at your call, so just say the word, why travel down?. The Bible recorded that Jesus marvelled when He heard that and turned back and He said to the crowd, “…I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel.” And those who were sent, returning to the house found the servant well.” Luke 7:9-10. If this centurion had no value for authority, he would never have understood the power that Jesus possesses over demonic spirits and their works.

So an understanding of authority will help the believer in his walk of faith with Jesus. Know that Jesus has authority over all unclean spirit, and all you have to do is give commands in His name, and at the mention of His name, everything flees. All you need to do is say “Go!” Or “Come!” And you will get whatever you have said. Praise God!

TODAY’S RHEMA

You can get everything done immediately you speak in the authority of Jesus!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for giving the church the authority to use the name of Jesus, because now I know that the authority behind this name is what gets the job done. Therefore I declare that whatever I bind will be bound and whatever I lose will loosen in Jesus name. Amen!
