“…those who love knowledge want to be told when they are wrong. It is stupid to hate being corrected…” Proverbs 12:1 (GNB)

One of the things you must appreciate as you journey in your Christian walk is “correction”. You must learn to accept correction and do not reject it or be angry when it comes because you need it to grow in your Christian life. God does not want you to be stagnant in your Christian walk, therefore, He wants you to be open to corrections and learning new things. The way you do things might have helped you to come so far in your life, but if you want to go even further, then you must be willing to upgrade the way you do things and that’s where accepting correction comes into play. So make a conscious decision to accept correction in any area of life. Interestingly, there is nobody out there who is above correction. We are all not perfect but as Christians, we are expected to work towards the mark of perfection. Hence, it’s important to be open to correction.

Now, when it comes to accepting or receiving correction, the natural way many people react is, to get angry, reluctant or even become non-challant. It’s normal because the human nature which is full of pride would want to respond that way; but you are no longer a natural man but a man of the spirit. Your reaction to corrections should no longer be according to your human nature but according to the dictates of the Word of God. When you respond according to God’s Word, you will grow in your Christian life, minimize your errors and access deeper things of the Kingdom. Accepting correction is a sign of humility, and humility is the key to receiving the deeper things of the Kingdom.

So walk conscious of this truth, for the Bible says, “…those who love knowledge want to be told when they are wrong. It is stupid to hate being corrected…” Proverbs 12:1 (GNB). Did you see that? So walk in this path from henceforth. Be open to correction but most importantly, make sure the corrections that come to you are in line with the provisions of the scriptures. Because not all corrections are corrections in righteousness. Never forget that.
