“…Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you…” —Luke 6:38 (NIV)

Most times people look at scripture above and they think that it only speaks about giving money. Yes of course the scripture speaks in relation to the financial and material things we give, being the measure that God uses to reward us materially and financially. But there are still some other things, which we can give to others, which most people have not considered. You can give your neighbor a smile, a hug, a warm welcome, or you could also give your neighbor a bad look, a cold look, a hostile greeting, a dirty slap, a knock on the head. And the list goes on. As the Bible clearly states, when we give, whatever we give is given back to us. This ultimately means, if we give our neighbors a cold welcome or reception, it will be returned to us, either by that person or by someone else, and if we decide to give a helping hand to someone, our help is also not far away. So, in attitude or in deeds, whatever we give will be returned back to us in full measure. Sometimes people wonder why unfortunate things always happen to them, or why most times when they are in need, they hardly get people to help them out of their need. I think the answer here is very simple. No one will help you, if you don’t give help to others.

So, you may need to start learning to help people around you, so that when your time of need comes, you won’t lack help. If you are a known trouble maker, or a record breaker when it comes to causing public nuisance, it would be very difficult not to always find yourself in difficult situations, because this is what you have sown in the past and reaping the fruits of what you have sown becomes inevitable. We always reap what we sow, either it’s big or small. What we give away is always what we will get. Now, since we know that we will receive a reward for the things we give away, it would be better for us to always weigh what we give away. It’s important that as Christians we are very careful in the kind of things we invest our time on because we know that whatever we give away will come back. If you live by cheating others, then as time goes on you will be cheated too, if you live by lying to people, you will face a lot of deceit in life, if you live by sleeping with other people’s husbands or wife, it would be hard, for your spouse not to do the same to you. So, stay away from wickedness, and embrace goodness, so you can reap all your fruits in goodness “…for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap…” Galatians 6:7b (NKJV)
