“…if anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him…” John 12:26 (ESV)

Having established the importance of rendering your services towards God, we are going to be looking at the benefits of doing this. Now, the reason we want to look at the benefits of service is because most times, people don’t know that rendering your services to God comes with a whole bunch of benefits that even money may not be able to give to you. In the book of Deuteronomy 11:13-16, the Bible communicates to us how service towards God can be a big blessing. It says, “…and it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart, and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled…” Did you see that? This was God telling the Israelites that, if they will earnestly obey His command to love and serve Him, He will do so much for them. It gives us an idea of what is possible when we render our services towards God. He said He would give them rain, so that their crops will do well and be able to gather grain, new wine and oil.

Interestingly, even the blessings were also going to extend to their livestock because He said He will send grass in their field so that the livestock may find something to it. That is how beneficial service towards God can be. It will not only bring the blessings of God into your life; it will impact every area of your life. Your service to God can cause the blessings of God to rest on your health, business, family and career. Some years ago, we had a member in the church who was going through a lot of difficulties. He has been in the country for over five years with nothing to show for it. He was literally living from hand to mouth and one day He heard about the importance of serving in the house of the Lord. So, he decided to join the maintenance department. On this certain day, he was with them sweeping the church and he was among those assigned to sweep and clean the altar area. So, as he was diligently sweeping that area, the power of God came on him and he fell under the power at the altar area. Every one there ran towards him and when they understood what was happening with him, they let him be. After a while he woke up and narrated what happened to him, they encouraged him and he went home that day. Two days later, he came back to church with more than fifty chairs as a seed to God for opening his doors. When he was asked what happened, he said, after that encounter, things change. Calls began to pour in from people who just wanted to send him money and that was how his story changed because he made up his mind to serve. Beloved, it is never too late to render your services to God. You can start today and watch your life move from glory to glory.
