“…God sets the solitary in families; he brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land…”- Psalms 68:6 (NKJV)

One of the things you must avoid with all vehemence in your Christian walk is rebellion. The end result is never good. Now, this isn’t to scare you but to educate you on the dangers of rebellion. Sometimes, we knowingly or unknowingly rebel against the instructions of God and in the long run, we find ourselves struggling and facing the consequences of our rebellion.

An example of such cases is the story of Jonah. God sent him to Nineveh to deliver a message to them, but Jonah rebelled against God. Instead of going to Nineveh, he fled from the presence of God and went towards Tarshish which was in the opposite direction. But while he was in the ship going to Tarshish there arose a mighty storm because of Jonah and at the end of the day, the people in the ship, had no choice but to throw Jonah into the sea, where a giant fish swallowed him.

Instead of getting to Tarshish, Jonah ended up in the belly of a fish, where he remained for three days. (Scripture Reference: Jonah 1:1-17). You know why? Because he was rebellious. It was when he got into trouble he remembered God and had to pray from the belly of the fish. Imagine what he may have gone through in those three days. He could have avoided all that trouble if he had simply obeyed God.

As we have seen in our opening text, the rebellious dwell in a dry land…”- Psalms 68:6 (NKJV). In other words, when you are rebellious to God and His Word, you will end up in a dry place — a place of difficulty and hardship.

The question now is, which area are you currently in rebellion? Is it finances? a relationship, an attitude or in prayer? Is it in church or even in your marriage? Whatever the case may be, take these thoughts seriously and align yourself with God’s statutes, charges and commands. Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22).

TODAY’S RHEMA

Rebellion will do you no good; avoid it with all vehemence!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for educating me on the dangers of rebellion. I declare this day that every spirit or tendency of rebellion is removed from my life because obedience is at work in me in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
