Ninety-nine percent of the people you meet today will tell you they need a change and are hoping God will give them one. However, the truth is that the change anyone needs in their life is themselves. It might sound ridiculous, but it is simply the truth. Although not many are willing to accept this, think about it: unless you are willing to change yourself, nothing will change in your life. You might ask, “But how?” Let me explain.
Where you are right now is a result of your ideas, character, attitudes, perspectives, and ways of doing things. If you want to move to the next level and live a better life, you must be willing to change these areas. Once you do, true transformation will set in. Unless you change your mode of operation and the way you think, certain things in your life will never change.
Consider, for example, someone who is very lazy. If they want to alter the results that laziness brings, they must choose to become hardworking. The very moment they step up in this area, everything else around them will begin to shift. This illustrates that you are the change you have been waiting for. Unfortunately, many of God’s people seek change externally, but true transformation must come from within you.
Therefore, get to work and outline the things you need to change about yourself. It might be your words, your ideas, your manner of approach, your habits, or even your prayer life. If you can enforce these adjustments, I guarantee you will see a transformation in the shortest possible time. Think about when God wanted to change Abraham’s life and give him children. He first had to change his name from Abram, meaning “exalted father,” to Abraham, meaning “father of a multitude.”
God started with his name because He wanted Abraham’s thoughts about himself to change. Once his mindset shifted, it was easy for everything else to fall into place. The change that occurs within you has a way of making everything around you respond differently. So, take advantage of this truth and change yourself so that your desired change can finally set in. Praise God!
