“…and when they came together, he gave them this order: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift I told you about, the gift my Father promised…” Acts 1:4 (GNB)

When Jesus Christ was about to ascend to heaven, He met with his disciples and told them not to go anywhere but to wait in Jerusalem until they are endued with power. Looking at this instruction, one would think that they just had to sit down and wait till the Holy Spirit comes, but that was not the kind of wait he was talking about. A look at the scriptures shows us exactly the kind of wait. The bible says, “…then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey. And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers…” Acts 1:12-14 (NKJV).

In this scripture we see that they didn’t just fold their arms and do nothing, they gathered together in the upper room and continued in prayer waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit as our Lord Jesus Christ had promised them. Taking into context this example, we learn that as Christians we don’t just fold our arms waiting that things around us will alter itself and of its own accord become good. We are expected to wait on the Lord in the place of prayer, we are expected to tarry in prayer till what we are waiting for and expecting begins to make manifest. A lot of Christians have missed blessings, opportunities and callings because they were just waiting without praying. Prayer is the key to a successful journey, prayer is the spark that we need to light up our world, and without prayer we can’t be sure about our life’s journey. I therefore encourage you today not to get tired of praying, keep praying till you see the change because your change is on the way. Hallelujah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

Stop waiting without praying, start praying as you wait patiently!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

I declare today, that by reason of my prayer, everything around me is changing for good. Lines are falling unto me in pleasant places and producing the results I have been waiting for in Jesus name. Amen!
