“…but if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness…” Romans 8:10 (NIV)
Do you know that the righteousness of God is a force that can change your life forever? Yes, you heard me right. The first man Adam had it and lived a superior life. He lacked nothing and was never sick as long as he was in the garden and the nature of righteousness was in him. But the moment he made that costly mistake of eating from the tree that God didn’t want him to eat, he lost the nature of righteousness and the nature of sin was activated in him. He became subject to sickness and evil, because the nature of sin is the nature of death. Sadly, the nature of death did not stop with him but was passed on to all men for it is written, “…through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, thus death spread to all men, because all have sinned…” Romans 5:12 (NKJV).
However, Jesus Christ came and changed the game. He offered Himself and paid the ultimate price for all mankind. He took away the nature of sin and gave us the nature of righteousness. The Bible says God “…made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him…” 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV). Now as believers, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The nature of sin is gone, and the power of righteousness is now at work in us. The question is, what is the significance of this? It is simple, by the power of righteousness, we are no longer subject to sickness and death that is at work in the world. The sin nature produced death, but the nature of righteousness produces life. It’s for this reason the Bible says in our opening text that, “…if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness…” Romans 8:10 (NIV). So take advantage of this truth and understand that, because of the nature of righteousness which is at work in you, everything that concerns you receives life. Even when death in all its different forms tries to creep into you, the force of righteousness which is the force of life will kick it out by default but remember you have to dwell in the consciousness of this truth to see it manifest in your life. CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, therefore everything around me receives life. My body receives life, my job receives life, my finances receive life and every limitation in this world loses its hold on me because the force of righteousness is fully at work in me in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
