“…he has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins…”- Colossians 1:13 (NKJV)
When Jesus Christ came to this world and died for the sins of the world (John 3:16), several benefits followed. One of those benefits is deliverance from the powers of darkness. In our opening scripture, the bible says, God has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the son of His love. The amplified version of this scripture says,”…the father has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness…” meaning that we have been rescued, saved and delivered from the dominion of darkness. Today the powers of darkness have no legal grounds over you anymore because God through the finished works of His dear son has changed the legal grounds and moved you to the kingdom of light. You can no longer be oppressed or tormented any longer by the devil. As a matter of fact, the devil and his cohorts no longer have any strong hold on you. All that they use to afflict people can no longer afflict you again because you have been delivered from the dominion of darkness. Sickness, death, poverty and so on, can no longer play any active role in your life again, because you function in a different world now with new rules and legal grounds. You might say but how did this happen? Well, in the first place, when man was created, he was given dominion over the earth. God said, ‘let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion……over all the earth” –Genesis 1:26. Man was created to have dominion, but the devil came and tricked Eve and Adam and they fell from grace. So this dominion given to man was taken by the devil and used to oppress and afflict mankind. For years, man was under the dominion of the powers of darkness until Jesus Christ came and changed everything through the sacrifice He offered on the cross of Calvary. He died and went to hell. He disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them and triumphed over them (Colossians 2:15 NKJV). When He appeared to John, He said “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death” (Revelation 1:18b NKJV) from this, you discover that the keys of hell and death is no longer with the devil but with Jesus and you are complete in Him who is the head of all principality and powers (Colossians 2:10). So as a Christian, be confident of your place in Christ, you no longer need deliverance from the devil because you are already delivered. Refuse to allow any form of oppression of the devil in your life because he does not have legal grounds over you.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
Dear Heavenly Father I thank you for revealing to me a very important truth, I thank you for delivering me from the dominion of darkness. I declare that I am free and I cannot be oppressed in any area of my life in the name of Jesus.
