“…for he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries…” 1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV)
Having established the importance of saturating your life with tongues, someone might say but is it compulsory that every Christian should do this? Well, it is true that there have been many controversies here and there on this matter, but the greater truth is that those controversies don’t make it wrong. Speaking or praying in tongues is not compulsory but it is not optional either, because speaking or praying in tongues is in your best interest and no one else. When you give yourself to speaking or praying in tongues, you are the one who benefits from it. You are the one who gets edified and fortified to face the day-to-day challenges that come your way. So, it is important that you pray in tongues often. Also, aside from the fact it benefits you, there are two major things you must know about speaking in tongues and why it is not optional.
The first one is that it is a sign that follows those who believe in Jesus. In the book of Mark 16:17, our Lord Jesus Christ Himself said, “…these signs shall follow those who believe; In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues…” Did you see that? Meaning, if you truly believe in Jesus Christ and His finished works for you, you ought to speak in tongues. Secondly, Paul the Apostle admonished us in the Bible saying “…therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order…” 1 Corinthians 14:39-40 (NKJV). From these two points here, we see that praying in tongues is really not an option if you truly want to harness the fullness of your salvation. It is when you engage in it more and that the Holy Spirit takes over and begins to make intercession for you with groanings that can not be uttered. If you are a Christian who doesn’t take speaking in tongues seriously, you will never get to that place of groaning in your Christian walk, and there are some dynamic miracles you will never experience in your life because you don’t take speaking in tongues seriously. So do the needful today and start taking advantage of speaking in tongues. If you don’t know how to speak or pray in tongues, sincerely ask the Holy Spirit to help you and grant you utterance and He will gladly do that. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your love and counsel. I choose this day to take praying in tongues seriously. I choose to saturate my life, ministry, family and career with tongues and as I do, I experience open heavens in the name of Jesus. Amen!
