“…I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven, there came one like a son of man, and He came to the ancient of days and was presented before Him…”- Daniel 7:13 (NKJV)

Daniel in referring to His visions about God, he used the title Ancient of Days to describe God. What was he thinking? Why did he call God the Ancient of Days? Even today, many refer to God as the Ancient of Days while they sing and pray. Have you ever pondered on why God is called the Ancient of Days? It’s a title which refers to God existing from before the beginning of time. This makes God older than time itself. So who can tell how old God is if He never had a beginning?

In Genesis 1:1, the Bible declares, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.” This shows that before the beginning of anything and everything, God was already there. More accounts in the Bible show us how God created the sun and the moon. And today, people count days according to the rising and going down of the sun. But who created the time? Can a created thing be greater than its Creator? God is ageless and isn’t bound by time and space.

So, when you ponder about the Ancient of Days, what goes through your mind? Does it occur to you that nothing is new to Him? Well, the significance of all of these is to let you know that the things you are going through in life may be new to you, but they are not new to Him. So, who has the best solution to all things if not the One that has been from before time began? Beloved, let the thoughts of the Ever-present and Everlasting Father fill your mind today so that you can understand who your Father is and approach Him accordingly. Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
