“…this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success….” Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

When God was trying to commission Joshua for the work ahead, after Moses was gone, there were very specific instructions that God gave to Joshua which is of utmost importance to us today. God said to Joshua, “…this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success….” Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) meaning, if Joshua was going to succeed in the assignment that God was given to him, he has to meditate on the book of the law day and night and most importantly, he was expected to observe to do what is in the book of the law. Letting us know that studying it, meditating on it was not enough, the ultimate thing he was to do to guarantee his success was to ensure that he observes to do what was written there.

Beloved in this same way, if we are going to have good success in what we do and prosper in all things, then we must learn not just only to read and meditate on the word of God, but we must learn to observe to do what the word of God says. I personally think this is one of the most important parts of our walk with God. In the book of James 2:14-15, the Bible clearly states that “…faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead…” meaning that to your faith, you must add works, because this is what validates your faith. And the works we are talking about here is putting God’s word to work. So I encourage you this day, to consider doing God’s word. The word of God is practical, it is only when you work it that is when it works. So begin today not just only to study and meditate on the word, but observe to do what it talks about and watch your life move from one level of grace to another. Do not be like some folks who put their Bible under their pillow to sleep, thinking that’s where the power is, it is not going to work until you start to observe to do what is written in the Bible. The doing of the word of God is what activates the power of God in your life. Praise God!

TODAY’S RHEMA

The word of God is practical, it is only when you work it that is when it works!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the Ancient Words which you have made available for our triumphing. I declare that henceforth, I will not only study and meditate on the word, but I will also observe and do what the word says because I know that as I do that, my life moves from glory to glory. Hallelujah!
