Over the years, I have watched many of God’s people live recklessly. In the end, they experienced a great deal of pain, fell into deep trouble, and ultimately died prematurely because they did not live carefully. They were careless in their decisions, choices, and actions, leading to a tragic end.
Recently, I read about a notorious young man who was gunned down after kidnapping and killing many people. He was only thirty-four, but he had already claimed numerous lives. In an interview, his mother shared that he killed his first victim at age thirteen. Since then, he had terrorized his family and everyone in their community. Today, he is no more. He died at a young age simply because he lived a reckless life.
Beloved, God in His infinite mercy did not give us life to squander or gamble with. Instead, He gave us life as a free gift of trust, so that we might enjoy it, cherish it, and fulfill His purpose for us. Unfortunately, many people do not understand why they were given life, so they live carelessly and take unnecessary risks. They do not care about the consequences of their actions or the paths they choose. All they care about is getting pleasure today, completely ignoring tomorrow. However, they forget that the foundation for a better tomorrow must be laid today.
As a Christian, it is crucial that you live every day with tomorrow in mind. Be mindful of the decisions you make and the risks you are willing to take. Pay close attention to the friends you associate with and the relationships you nurture. Whether you realize it or not, these choices go a long way in determining the kind of future you will have. No one ever arrives in the future by mistake. Everyone must pass through today, and the investments you make right now are what shape your tomorrow.
Therefore, I admonish you to live your life carefully. Cherish what God has given you and use it well. As a custodian of the life you have now, remember that God will someday require an account of how you lived (Romans 14:12). So, do what is necessary and make God proud.
Some people claim they no longer care about what happens to them because of the pain and challenges they have endured. But the truth is, no matter the difficulties you face, they are never a valid excuse to live recklessly. You must hold yourself together, using God’s Word to mold your life and create your future. Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your grace. I thank You for trusting me enough to give me life. I thank You for Your love, Your mercy, and the ability You have given me to live carefully. I declare that recklessness is far from me, and the wisdom to number my days and lay the right foundation every day for my future is at work in me, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
