“…Surely Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever…” Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)

“You are good and your mercy is forever, Hallelujah! You are good and your mercy is forever, Hallelujah! This is a song most of us all know. What does this song mean to you when you sing it? It’s amazing how we say a lot of confessions but never stop to ponder on them and really take advantage of the words in them. Looking at the opening scripture we see that it’s possible for goodness and mercy to follow a man, and not just follow him, but to follow him all the days of his life. This means he would be accompanied with goodness and mercy as long as he lives. These are God’s angels assigned to man to always ensure that he experiences goodness, and mercy. King David said, goodness and mercy will follow him all the days of his life, which means he wasn’t going to experience it one time and it wasn’t going to be a coincidence. He meant goodness and mercy is going to be “an all-time life experience”, something he would always depend on, no matter what comes his way and he would never be in a position of disadvantage. These are not mere words, especially coming from King David.

This was a man we know didn’t have it easy in life, a man who had to battle with a lion, a man who had to face a bear. The bible recorded his discussion with Saul saying” thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when He arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.” 1 Samuel 17:34-35 (KJV). This same David had to face Goliath the giant, and this same man had to face the wrath of King Saul. And guess what those who walked with him, whom the bible called David’s mighty men, also killed the giant brothers of Goliath. This man had confidence in the Lord, he had confidence in the goodness and mercy of the Lord, which was bestowed on him by God. This new year, do not let your perspective of God’s goodness be lesser than that of King David’s. It’s a year where your confidence in the Lord should be stronger, a year where you just hold on to the promises of God, concerning his goodness and his mercy. Halleluiah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

Have confidence in the goodness and mercies of God which He has bestowed upon you!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Father, I thank you for this New Year, and I thank you because every day of this year, I will experience your goodness and your mercy. They will always abide with me, work for me and work through me in Jesus name. Amen!
