“….I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it but I found none….”- Ezekiel 22:30 (NKJV)

Having understood that God honours intercession, something I would like to bring your attention to, is the fact that when you don’t form the habit of interceding for others, you could become a victim of that which you did not intercede to God about. Lot was a perfect example of one of those people who almost became a victim because he did not intercede for the city where he stayed. All kinds of evil were taking place in the city where he was, but he did not intercede for the city. His righteous soul was tormented day by day by the lawless deeds he saw and heard (2 Peter 2:8) but he didn’t intercede for the land until God became so angry with Sodom and Gomorrah to the point that He decided to destroy the city with Lot and his family included. It took Papa Abraham to intercede for the city, before Lot and His family could be saved (Genesis 18:16-33).

I know that many people will argue this, but if you study the bible carefully, there was no place it was said that Lot prayed to the Lord for Sodom and Gomorrah. If he was praying, maybe God wouldn’t have decided to destroy the city. Even though Lot was tormented in his soul by the lawless deeds of the people, he didn’t pray and that almost cost him his life, if not for the fact that Papa Abraham prayed.

Now, there is a great lesson to learn from this account because the same thing could happen to us if we do not intercede. It’s not enough to acknowledge the lawless deeds going on around you, endeavour to intercede about it and see how the deliverance of God will come speedily. To know how much God values intercession, He instructed the Israelites saying, “…seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace…” Jeremiah 29:7 (NKJV). Did you see that? Even though they were captives in the place they found themselves, the preservation and prosperity of the place, still rested in their intercession. So I admonish you today to take intercession seriously. Through your intercession, cities, nations, families and individuals can find the mercy of God and be delivered from whatever situation they find themselves. Halleluiah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

Through your intercession, deliverance can be enforced in many lives, cities and nations!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Thank you, heavenly father, for the glorious truth you have shared with me today, I declare that the passion and zeal to intercede for others is burning in me and by the power of the Holy Ghost lives shall be touched through my intercession in the name of Jesus. Amen!
