“…till I come, give attention to reading…”1 Timothy 4:13 (NKJV)

One major mistake I see many God’s people make when a New Year begins is that they start pursuing all their dreams and goals without making out time to study God’s word. They neglect the word of God and don’t attach any importance to it. They don’t see how impactful the word of God can be in their journey to excel. So, they keep making excuses for not studying the word of God, unknown to them that they are cheating themselves of a great blessing. Beloved, if you truly want to do exploits this year and see the ministry of the word produce massive results in your life, you must make a conscious decision to give attention to reading the scriptures. It is not an option but a mandate. No matter how busy you may become, you must take a moment to study because studying the word will help you stay aglow and fired up for the Kingdom. The study of God’s word brings light into your spirit (Psalms 119:130), and that light is what you need to stay passionate about God and His righteousness. If you are a Christian who does not study the word, I can guarantee you that your spirit will be functioning without light, and you will always find yourself struggling to pray and follow the instructions of the master. Because the ingredient that quickens you, which is the Word of God, is missing.

In most cases, you will find Christians who say, “I don’t know what is happening to me, these days I find it difficult to pray” or “I find it difficult to worship.” Well, it’s simple; they do not study their Bibles. They are doing everything else except studying the Bible, which is not a very good thing at all. So, to avoid this, you must bring yourself to study the word of God from time to time. It could be one or two chapters, but make it a habit to study every day. Derive pleasure in studying the word, and I am telling you everything will fall in place for you. The word of God has a ministry to fulfill in your life. If you don’t study the word, you are depriving yourself of this ministry, which could be detrimental to your life. Paul the Apostle understood the importance of this truth, and one of the advice He gave to Timothy, the young minister, was, “…till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine…”1 Timothy 4:13 (NKJV). Did you see that? Paul, being an experienced minister, had to give Timothy this advice because He knew that Timothy needed the word to excel and continue in ministry. So, I am giving you this counsel today, no matter the odds, no matter your busy schedule, bring yourself to study the word of God because the benefits are more than you can ever imagine. Hallelujah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

If you are a Christian who does not study the word, I can guarantee that your spirit will function without light!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

By the power of God’s Spirit, I decree that the grace to cultivate the habit of daily studying of the word is at work in me, and as I give myself to studying the word, I am excelling in all things in the name of Jesus. Amen!
