“…we have many parts in one body, and all these parts have different functions. In the same way, though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body. So, we are to use our different gifts….” —Romans 12:4-6 (GNB)

Do you know that as a Christian you have a function to fulfill in the body of Christ? Has anybody ever told you this before? Well, it is important for you to know that being in Christ is much more than just confessing Jesus as your Lord and savior but fulfilling a purpose in the body of Christ. Over the years a lot of folks have always taught that the only responsibility they have as Christians is to accept Jesus as their Lord and keep coming to church every Sunday but the truth remains that it goes beyond that. As a child of God, I want you to know that you have a function to fulfill in the body of Christ, we all don’t have the same function but yes, we all do have a function to fulfill. In our opening scripture, the bible says “…we have many parts in one body, and all these parts have different functions…” You have a responsibility to locate your function in the body of Christ and to fulfill it. Until and unless you start fulfilling your function in Christ Jesus, you have not established yourself completely in Christ. Therefore, make a conscious decision that this year, you will locate your function and fulfill it.

All you need to do is start from somewhere and be willing. A lot of times, you find people who are just not willing to do anything in church. They only want to come to church on Sundays, hear the sermon and go back home. For them this is all they want, but God says you have to go beyond that. You have to be active and not passive. You have to get involved in what is going on in the church. Participate in all activities and look for an activity department to enlist yourself. When you are enlisted, God begins to guide you and groom you according to your faithfulness and willingness. When this continues your God given potential starts coming out and that’s where the grace that God has given you becomes pronounced and ready for impacting other people. So be encouraged to be part of what is happening in the body of Christ. Get involved in evangelism; get involved in trying to make the house of the Lord to be a place conducive for worship. Be amongst those who are helping to make the work of the Lord to move forward and use the gift in accordance with the grace that God has given to you (Romans 12:6 GNB) Do all you can to favor God’s righteous course on earth. When you do this, you will be amazed at the kind of transformation that will be activated in your life. Praise God!
