“…God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind…” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

When most people hear news of certain incidents or negative events that happened to other people or to a place, the general response from them is always a response of fear or doubt. But do you know that God does not want us to respond that way? As a Christian, you need to understand that fear is not from God and therefore, it should not be entertained in any way. Fear is of the devil, and if you give it a place in your life, it could destroy you completely. A good example of this is the account of the Israelites and the twelve spies who were sent to the Promised Land to spy the Land. Ten out of the twelve spies came back to the Israelites with an evil report saying “….the land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (descendants of Anak came from the giants), and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight…” Numbers 13:32-33 (NKJV).

When they said this, the bible recorded that the children of Israel lifted up their voices and cried, and all the people wept at night. And they began to complain against Moses and Aaron (Numbers 14:1). Instead of them to believe in the God who led them out of Egypt and promised them a land for an inheritance, they complained and responded in fear because of the news that they heard. Sadly, when they did this, God became angry and threatened to disinherit them but Moses interceded for them. However, because of their response, many of them could not enter the Promised Land. (Numbers 14:26-38) why? Because they responded in fear and their fears led them to complain against the Lord which ultimately led them to their destruction. Likewise, when we respond in fear, it goes a long way to destroy a lot of things, therefore it is important to always be on guard so that you don’t make the same mistake the children of Israel made. One of the dangers of responding in fear is that it could make you do or say the wrong things. It could make you stumble in the word of God and probably even cause you to complain against God or give you a wrong notion about God. So make a conscious decision to keep your head straight and refuse to respond in fear no matter what happens or what you hear. Rather respond in faith knowing very well that God almighty has got your back. Praise God!

TODAY’S RHEMA

The response of fear can only bring you setbacks, therefore be a man of faith and respond in Faith!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank for letting me know the quality of character I should possess when news of ungodly event or wickedness come to me. I declare that henceforth no matter the news, I respond by faith and not in fear. I prophesy that as I do this, I am growing in it and moving from glory to glory in the name of Jesus. Amen!
