Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them… when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God… —Deuteronomy 8:11–12, 14 (NKJV)

All through the Scriptures, you find that one of the warnings God kept on giving the Israelites was that they should not forget Him. He spoke so much about it because He knew that they had a tendency to forget Him. Now, even with all God said, we see that they still abandoned Him on several occasions and followed other gods. Why? Because they allowed other gods to take God’s place, and guess what? They paid dearly for their actions.

So if you want to avoid what they went through, it is important that you review your life and know the things that are taking God’s place in your life so that you can get rid of them.

For some people, it might be social media or the kind of friends they keep. For others, it might be the kind of habits they have. Whatever the case may be, you must look into your life and get rid of those things that are drying up your passion and desire for God or making you disinterested in God, His word, and work. As small as they may seem, if you make an adjustment in those things, it could change your whole life forever.

Therefore, as you continue in your walk with God, I admonish you to get rid of everything that is taking God’s place in your life and restore God’s place in your finances, business, family, health, and spiritual life. When you restore God’s place by making sure you create time to give attention to God and what He wants from you, and you align with it, you will watch your life move from glory to glory. Praise God!
