“… that I was appointed for the defence of the Gospel…” – Philippians 1:16 (NKJV)

We live in a world where people have different views and opinions about Christianity. Many have formed the habit of always criticizing churches, pastors and Christians. All they do is sit down with other like minded people and begin to talk negative things about ministries and ministers of God whom God has commissioned for His work. They speak ill about their conduct, they talk down the activities that go on in churches; and the sad part is that some of these people who do these things are Christians. They do this again and again not minding the fact that they are maligning the same thing they believe in. They corrupt other young believers and give unbelievers the wrong impression about Christianity. They do this not knowing that they have been called to defend the gospel and not give people the wrong impression about it.

As a Christian, it is important to know that you have been called to defend the Gospel and not destroy it. Refuse to get involved with people who speak ill about the Gospel. Whenever you find yourself in the midst of people who are speaking against the Gospel, stand your ground and defend the Gospel to the best of your knowledge. If it becomes an argument, do not get caught up with that argument but be a man or woman who is able to stand for the Gospel and even convince people about it. Irrespective of what people may think about the Gospel and churches, the fact still remains that it is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). It is through the Gospel, God is pulling people out of penury and placing them among princes. It is through the Gospel God is giving people beauty for ashes and saving their souls. Our responsibility is to stand for it and use it to change people’s lives; we have been appointed and set aside for this purpose. Be sure to fulfil your part and leave the rest for God. Where ever you go, whomever you meet, be sure to defend the Gospel and be ready to change people’s opinions about it. Stay away from controversial topics and if there is anything you do not understand in the Gospel, don’t criticize it. Be patient enough and ask questions from the appropriate authorities who will explain to you clearly what you need to know. If after they have explained and you still do not understand, ask the Holy Spirit to open your mind and grant you understanding. When you do this, all you need to know will be granted you in due time.

TODAY’S RHEMA

Irrespective of what people may think about the Gospel, the fact still remains that it is the power of God unto salvation!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Father in the Name of Jesus, I believe that the Gospel is your power unto salvation; therefore I choose to stand by it and defend it all the days of my life. I have been appointed for this, and whenever it is necessary I function in great grace to defend it and get people convinced in Jesus name. Amen!
