“…I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence…”1 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV)

Having established the importance of bringing a balance to your prayer life, someone might say, but what exactly are the rewards for praying for others? Well, when we talk about the rewards of intercession, it comes in different ways and at different times. But this shouldn’t be the focus. One major reason you should get involved in intercession, is because this is what God wants from us. In fact, God is literally looking for people who would do this. In the book of Ezekiel 22:30, God said, “…I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one…”, did you see that? This lets us know that this is something God wants from us. So, when you stand in the gap for others, do not do it because of the reward but because this is what God wants from you. However, it is not possible to do this without getting a reward because God always rewards our labor of love. The reward always comes as a result of the action you have taken in the place of prayer. Let me give you an example of something that happened to one of our spiritual sons some years ago.

We were praying and fasting for three days and we all came together in church for these prayers. So, on the second day, while we were in church, I got a prompting from the Holy Spirit for us to sow a special seed into his life.  After making the altar call, a tangible amount was raised for him in an instant and we gave it to him right away. He wasn’t expecting it, it was not part of what he thought would happen to him that day. So, he was really shocked and didn’t understand what was happening. Now, when he got the money, he decided to say something. He said that morning when he and his wife were doing their morning devotion, it was laid in his heart for them to pray for me and he didn’t know why because that has never happened the way it did. So, they took quality time to pray for me that morning, and I wasn’t aware of what was going on. He said he was shocked, when I said the Holy Spirit asked me to do something for him financially. So, because he intercedes for me that day, the Holy Spirit, also immediately prompted me to do something for him that day. He received an instantaneous reward for intercession. Why? Because the Bible clearly states that “…the generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself…” Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV). Do you understand now? It pays to intercede for others. If you truly want to plug into some kinds of rewards that you have never experienced in your Christian walk, start interceding for others today. Halleluiah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Thank you, Father, for opening my eyes to these realities. I decree today that the passion and zeal to pray for others is at work in my life and as I pray, I am doing so passionately in the name of Jesus. Amen!
