“…then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him….” Mark 1:17-18 (NKJV)

Having established the fact that we ought to follow Jesus willingly just like the early disciples did, someone might say “but things have changed now. Their time and our own is different, so it is not really easy as it was those days”. Well, much as I would like to agree with you, I beg to differ. It is true that times have changed but the greater truth is that true followership does not change. If you truly understand who Jesus is and what He has done for you, you won’t find it difficult to follow him willingly. The challenge in the world today is that many do not understand who Jesus is and what He has offered. So, in most cases, people tend to choose the things of the world instead of the things of the kingdom and they do this because they feel the things of the world will benefit them better than the things of the kingdom. Unknown to them that in their pursuit for the benefit of the things of the world, they are losing much more than they think they are gaining.

However, your case ought to be different, make a conscious decision that you will follow Jesus for who He is and what He has done for you. Do not put material gains first, rather put Jesus and kingdom first and everything you desire will come to you easily with you having to struggle for it. I know this might sound too good to be true, but here is what the Bible says about this, it says “…seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other thing shall be added to you…” Matthew 6:33 (NKJV). Did you see that? So, I admonish you today to take this seriously and follow Jesus willingly. Make sacrifices for Him and not the other way round. And your life will go from glory to glory because when we follow Jesus, He makes us become that man or woman that the father has destined us to be. Hallelujah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

Don’t follow Christ because of what you want to get, follow Him because you love and appreciate Him.

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

I thank you, Father, because of your love that you have towards me. I declare that I am not selfish and neither is the love I have for you self-seeking. I do not follow you because of what I can get but because of who you are to me. I declare that my relationship with you is more important to me than any other thing in this world in the name of Jesus. Amen!
