“…so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel…” Philippians 1:27 (NKJV)

In the past couple of years, one of the things that have increased in the Christian fold is Christians backstabbing other Christians and abusing one another on social media. They fail to realize that the world sees this. Recently, I saw a video, where a young lady was practically insulting a man of God and yet she claimed to be a Christian. Interestingly, what she was accusing the man of God of, wasn’t true yet she had no qualms about spreading lies about this man of God. Attitudes like this have gone a long way to bring disunity in the body of Christ. However, if this is going to change, we must make a conscious decision to become agents of unity in our sphere of contact or in our local church. Let your presence communicate peace at all times and refuse to allow anything or anyone to make you enter into any kind of disputes with anybody.

You might say but what if I am insulted, shouldn’t I respond to that insult? Well, you don’t have to respond to that because when you do, it brings more disagreement and disunity in the body. Instead, ignore such things and move on with your life. Insults do not add to or reduce you. When you see other people, speaking ill about churches, ministers or other Christians, don’t join them or engage in such discussions. If you must engage in it, then your contribution should be a constructive one, one that will edify the Body and promote peace. Paul the Apostle in admonishing the Philippian church said something striking: “…whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel…” Philippians 1:27 (NKJV). Did you see that? The part, I really want you to take note of is where he said, “…that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel…”. Meaning, we have a responsibility as Christians to strive together for the faith of the Gospel. It is our responsibility to defend and represent the Gospel in the right way and make sure there is unity at all times. Hallelujah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

We have a responsibility as Christians to strive together for the faith of the Gospel!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Wherever I go and in whatever I do, I decree that I will always be an agent of peace, unity and love. And by the power of the Holy Ghost, the fortitude to handle disputing issues maturely is at work in me in Jesus name. Amen!
