“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes…  keep sound wisdom and discretion….” —Proverbs 3:5-6, 22 (NKJV)

In the past few years, I have been privileged to pastor a lot of God’s people, and so far, I have come across all kinds of people. A group of people I took note of are those who argue a lot and believe that they know it all. They are never willing to learn from you, and whatever you have to say to them never gets their attention. They are a clear example of what the Bible says “…ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth…” 2 Timothy 3:7 (NKJV).

Interestingly, when you watch their lives very closely, they haven’t made any significant progress because they are not learning anything new. The only progress they have made is in the area of argument. They keep coming up with argumentative points to buttress their points. In most cases, they come up with Bible scriptures, which support their claims and they never settle down to understand what the scripture is trying to say. They do this thinking this is the best part to follow as a Christian but the truth is that God does not want us to live that way. The Bible already made it clear in Proverbs 3:5, saying “….trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding….”Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV). Did you see that? Therefore, make a conscious decision to avoid arguments and be a person who is teachable. Be a believer who is able to receive corrections, discern the truth and abide by the truth. When you work on your discernment, you will easily detect the truth and most importantly, you will know when to argue and when to keep shut and accept the truth. Praise God!

Today’s Rhema

Be a believer who is able to receive corrections, discern the truth and abide by the truth!

Confession for the Day

Oh Lord, I am truly grateful for this wonderful truth you have revealed to me today, I decree therefore that the grace to discern the truth is at work in me and I receive the grace to learn quickly and every tendency in me to always argue and refute knowledge is terminated in me in the name of Jesus. Amen!
