“…blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful…” Psalms 1:1 (NKJV)

As you journey this year, one of the things you must do for yourself to establish your success, is to avoid the counsel of the ungodly no matter how wise it may be. You know we are living in a world of social media where everyone is airing their views about different matters of life. Many unbelievers have made it a point of duty to educate believers on what to follow in the scriptures and what not to follow. Many have even gone as far bringing out certain verses from the Bible and have tried to argue it and dissuade God’s people from doing what is right. But in the midst of the noise, you must be careful not to accept any counsel that discourages you from obeying God or walking in the statutes of God. Because if you do, you fall into the trap of the enemy and the results can be very detrimental. So, do all you can to ensure that you stay away from every counsel that encourages you to disobey God. In fact, the Bible says in our opening text, “…blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful…” Psalms 1:1 (NKJV). Did you see that? The Bible clearly says, the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly is a blessed man.

Therefore, this year be on your guard and make sure you do not give in to some of the negative counsels out there. And one of the ways in which you can protect yourself from all such is by studying the word of God for yourself and by yourself. Most of the time, the reason believers fall for the wrong counsel is because they haven’t studied the Bible for themselves. It is whatever they are told that is what they follow, and because they haven’t studied for themselves, they have no conviction in the truth. So, they are ready to dance to any tune that is playing. But the Bible expressly says, “…study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings for they will increase unto more ungodliness…”2 Timothy 2:15-16 (NKJV). The Good news version of the 2 Timothy 2:16, clearly says, “…keep away from profane and foolish discussions, which only drive people farther away from God…” In verse, it says “…. such teaching is like an open sore that eats away the flesh…” Did you see that? This is very clear and instructive, so you must act wisely and stay away from any teaching or discussions that encourage you to stay away from God or disobey God. Hallelujah!

TODAY’S RHEMA
