“…only rebel not against the Lord, neither fear you the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the Lord is with us…” —Numbers 14:9 (NKJV)

“They are bread for us” What could this mean? Considering what is done to bread we can say it means food for the stomach, an object of satisfaction, or something to be possessed or taken advantage of. The speaker in trying to encourage the children of Israel not to be afraid said, their adversary was bread for them. Meaning their adversary was their meal, their object of satisfaction, the food for their stomach. Most times, we look at the outward expression of the adversary and forget that God is still God regardless of how strong the adversary may look. When we look at stone what do we see? You see something so solid that nothing can come out of it or something so hard that the mouth cannot chew. Yet the Bible tells us that Moses by God’s instructions caused water to come out of a rock.

God said “Behold I will stand before you on the rock of Horeb; and you shall strike the rock and water will come out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.” Exodus 17:6. This was God performing the miraculous and doing the impossible through Moses not considering the size of the rock, or what the rock was made of. Water coming out of a rock was the exact opposite of the expectations of the people at that time and even in this present age. Now, if this could happen, then even you can bring out anything from stone with God on your side. We are children of God Most High and we should begin to do things the way we know God would do them. We know that God does not cower in the face of adversity so we also do not cower in the face of adversity but turn every standing opposition to our meal. We defeat the opposition by not worrying about the size, we defeat the opposition by not caring about what we think it can do or cannot do. We just need to know that if it’s our bread then it’s our bread and the size of the adversary does matter.

TODAY’S RHEMA

The size of the adversary doesn’t matter !

CONFESSIONS FOR THE DAY

Thank you oh Lord God Almighty! I declare in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that every situation that looks stony or unbreakable in my life has become bread for me. Amen!
