“…blessed is the man who trust in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit…”- Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV)

One of the growing challenges in the world today is the problem of depression. Too many of God’s people are increasingly finding themselves in that place of total sadness and hopelessness. Unfortunately, many have even taken their lives because of this same thing and the number is still counting. But the question is, what is the way out of depression? Is there truly a way out? Well, the answer is yes. Depression in the first place is the lack of trust in God and His ability. I know that might sound a little over the board but that’s just the truth. People who do not trust God, are those who end up depressed. They somehow have come to put their faith in man and his knowledge and not in God and His ability. You might want to argue this but that is the truth. When your faith is in man, that is when impossibilities becomes real and when all you see is impossibilities, depression becomes the order of the day. That’s why the Lord said in Jeremiah 17:5 that, “…cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is inhabited…” Did you see that? As long as your focus and trust is in man and what he can do, things cannot go right.

Therefore, if you truly want to defeat depression, dare to trust the Lord. Yes, you heard me right. The bible says, “…blessed is the man who trust in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit…”- Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV). Meaning the secret to defeating depression is putting your trust in the Lord, clinging unto to Him and applying His principles to the challenges you have found yourself and there will certainly be a victory.
