“…now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him…”1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV)

Beloved, do you know that there is a legal side to prayer? Do you know that your prayers can become more effective when you understand the legalities of prayer? Well, in case you do not know, I am telling you now. When we talk about prayer, we need to understand that there is a theoretical side of prayer, a practical side of prayer, and the legal aspect of prayer. The theoretical aspect of prayer is the aspect that deals with the knowledge of prayer. It is the aspect that educates you on the importance of prayer. While the practical side of prayer is that aspect of prayer where you actually pray or practicalize the knowledge of prayer. But the legal aspect of prayer is that aspect that deals with praying according to the will of God in prayer. Whether you like it or not, you must understand that without praying according to the will of God in prayer, even if you pray non-stop for three days or more, you will get no results from that prayer because your prayer is not according to the will of God in prayer and this is where many people around the world have found themselves. They pray quite alright but not according to the will of God in prayer, so they end up getting no answers for their prayers.

Now, you might say, if the legal aspect of prayer is praying according to the will of God in prayer, what then is the will of God in prayer? It’s simple. It is praying in the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is a name that has been given to us by God to use in prayers if we must get any answers to prayers. And the reason is that our Lord Jesus paid the ultimate price and has been given the name above every name. The Bible says, “…being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore, God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father….” Philippians 2:8-11. Through His name, we have access to God and all He has to give to us. His name commands authority in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, so when you use the name in prayers, you are sure to get an answer because all that exists answers to this name. Why? Because our Lord Jesus Christ was appointed heir of all things by God the Father (Hebrews 1:2) and through Him and to Him are all things (Romans 11:36). All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made (John 1:3). So, the next time you pray, make sure you engage in prayer with understanding. Halleluiah!
