“…then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken…” – 1 Kings 18:24-25 (NKJV)

One of the things you must learn to do in your Christian walk is to take risks with God — that is, learn to be on the edge with Him knowing full well that no matter what happens, He will never fail you. Sometimes, we do not trust God enough to actually deliver us or save us from some dire situations, but the truth remains that, if you will stand in faith, God will certainly come through. When the Israelites were faced with a very scary situation at the red sea, God came through for them. At first when they saw the Egyptian soldiers right behind them coming with a strong desire to destroy them while before them was a sea that could not be crossed, they got very scared and said to Moses, “because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, “let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? – Exodus 14:11-12 (NKJV)

Now, they said all these because they lost sight of all God did for them before He brought them out. They forgot all His miracles, they didn’t realize that, if God could perform all the miracles earlier in Egypt, He could still perform yet another. However, when they complained, Moses said to them, “…do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever…” Exodus 14:13 (NKJV). Moses knew that no matter the danger at hand, God will prove His faithfulness and guess what, God did. Elijah, also took this risk when he asked all the prophets of Baal to come forward and call on their God while he calls on his God also. And the God that answers by fire, He alone is God. He had confidence in God, so he stood his ground and called on God saying, “…hear me, O Lord, hear me, that thes people may know that you are the Lord God, and that you have turned their hearts back to you again…” 1 Kings 18:37 (NKJV). So “…the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench…”1 Kings 18:38 (NKJV). Did you see that? Elijah took risk but for him, it wasn’t really a risk because He knew God will always answer. In the same way, you should know that, anytime you call on God, He will definitely answer you. So, I admonish you to have this kind of confidence in God, no matter how severe the matter maybe, just cling on to God and He will come through for you. Halleluiah!

Let your confidence in God be so strong that no matter what you face, you will not be moved

No matter the odds, no matter the situation, I choose to stick to you and your word, Oh Lord, because I know that from you comes true deliverance. I refuse to give up in the face of adversity, rather I choose to stand up and confront the adversary because greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world. Praise God!
