“…for I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more…” —Hebrews 8:12 (NKJV)

One of the worst places to be in life is to be in a place where all the thoughts of your mistakes are always fresh in your mind. Do you know it is a place of limitation? Yes, it is! Because it causes you to always dwell on the past instead of focusing on what lies ahead. Sadly, that’s where the devil has kept many of God’s people. He wants them to continually dwell and fellowship with the mistakes of the past, because he knows by doing that, they get locked up in the guilt of their errors. Unfortunately, so many people are caught up in this place in their lives right now. All they dwell on is the mistakes that they made many years ago. I remember somebody regretting and talking about the mistakes that were made five years ago and I was surprised that that memory was still there. Beloved, it is important to know that whatever mistakes that took place in the past ought to remain in the past.

Stop holding on to it because God does not remember it. Most times, people tend to think that the reason things are not working out in their lives is because of the mistakes that they made. So, in their minds, they believe that God is holding on to the mistakes they made and He is punishing them because of it. But guess what, it is only a lie that the devil has made them to believe. God forgives our mistakes and overlooks our wrongs immediately we ask Him to, so He doesn’t bring it up again and again or capitalizes on it to use it against us.  In the book of Hebrews 8:12, the Bible reveals the heart of God and this is what God said “I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more…” Hebrews 8:12 (NKJV).  You must understand that God is not seeking to bring an accusation against you, He doesn’t work that way; it is the devil that works that way. He is the one that looks for reasons to bring against us because he is the accuser of the brethren. But thank God we have an advocate with the Father, who is Jesus Christ our Lord (1 John 2:2). Through Him the accusations of the devil do not have roots. So, in the light of this, it is important that you spend your days, focusing on what lies ahead of you. Stop holding on to what God has forgotten, so that you can make genuine progress. If you live in the past, you will never enjoy the present and will never be able to plan and prepare for the future. You will only end up in self-condemnation, distress and depression and this is not God’s plan for your life. Hallelujah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

If you live in the past, you will only end up in self-condemnation, distress and depression and this is not God’s plan for your life!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Lord, I am so grateful for this wonderful counsel you have brought my way today. I decree this day that the grace to let go of the past is at work in me. I choose to reach out to what lies ahead and make progress in all that I do in the name of Jesus. Amen!
