“…blessed is he who considers the poor, the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on earth; you will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; you will sustain him on his sickbed…” Psalms 41:2-3 (NKJV)

As you continue your walk with the Lord, one of the things you must engage in all the time is reaching out to the poor to help them in the best possible way that you can. I know that this doesn’t cross the mind of some people, but for you as a Christian, you must make a conscious decision to try to help them because the benefits are enormous. Our opening text says “…blessed is he who considers the poor, the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on earth; you will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; you will sustain him on his sickbed…” Psalms 41:2-3 (NKJV). Did you see that? Did you see the benefits that go to the man who helps the poor?

First, the Bible says, God will deliver him in time of trouble, meaning when you help the poor, you are indirectly protecting yourself from trouble. Secondly, the bible says, the Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, meaning as you help the poor and put a smile on their face, you have activated your deliverance in times when you need it the most and you have secured your life ahead of time. Thirdly, the bible says, you will be blessed on earth, and you will not be delivered to the will of your enemies, in other words, as you help the poor, you are creating room for you to be blessed and not only so, you are frustrating the plans of the enemies towards your life. And most importantly, the Bible says, when you help the poor, the Lord will strengthen you and sustain you in times of illness. Therefore, it is important that you include helping the poor in your day to day activities. Because just that act of favour can go a long way to protect you and help you live longer in life. So what are you waiting for? Map out a plan today and reach out the poor, widows and orphans. Do not be stingy with this because, in the long run, it is strictly for your own good. So make plans to help someone out there today, because the rewards are enormous. Halleluiah!
