“…O my God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, and from the heights of Hermon, from the Hill Mizar…” Psalms 42:6 (NKJV)

The quickest response for most people in times of difficulties is sadness and from there they slip into depression because they do not know how to handle their challenges properly. They feel the best way to respond is by being sad, but the truth is that sadness does not improve one’s situation, only faith in God and His word does. Therefore, as a Christian, when you go through tough times, remember the Lord and what He can do because He holds the keys to your future. Instead of keeping your head down and feeling all hell has broken loose, remember the Lord and ponder on the great things He has done for you in the past. Because if He could help you in the past, He would do it again. Be confident enough to look to Him for the solutions to your challenges. The Psalmist had this revelation and it made him say “I will lift up my eyes to the hills- from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” – Psalms 121:1 (NKJV). Did you see that? He had an understanding, he knew that his help comes from the Lord, so instead of putting his focus on something else, his focus was on God who has the ability to help him.

So refuse to be depressed or discouraged, I know that sometimes, situations can prove very tough but in the midst of it, remember the Lord and know that He is an ever present help. Remember He is the maker of the universe and has the solutions to your challenges.  Therefore, remember the Lord and refuse depression. In fact depression is not an option and has never being an option. So instead of being cast down, remember the Lord and know that He has got your back. Halleluiah!

Sadness does not improve one’s situation, only faith in God and His word does!

Glorious God, I thank you for being there for me always, I will continue to look up to you because my help comes from you. I refuse to walk in fear or discouragement because I know you are with me, thy rod and thy staff and I am scaling through every challenge as a victor in the name of Jesus. Amen!
