“…I was glad when they said to me, let us go into the house of the Lord…”

Psalms 122:1 (NKJV)

One Bible character that I love so much is King David. He was a King and a prophet whose revelation and passion for God is worthy of emulation. He said he was glad when they said to him, “let us go to the house of the Lord”. He was so in love with God to the point that anything that had to do with God was exciting to him. Having read so much about him, I realized that one of the reasons he loved God so much was because he had a very deep revelation of what God had done for him. He understood the gravity of God’s mercies towards him and this made him zealous for God and everything that pertained to God. Little wonder, God said He was a man after His heart (1 Samuel 13:14). God knew that David’s love for Him was genuine and so He wrought upon his life mighty works and gave him peace throughout his reign.

He is a man that shows us an example of how we should respond to God. His response to God was exceptional and as Christians we ought to emulate traits like this. Sadly, too many of God’s people are no longer excited about going to the house of the Lord or even participating in what happens there. Too many have grown cold in their love towards God. Their response to God has become really slow. Many no longer want to serve in the house of the Lord or be involved in what’s happening there. All they are interested in, is what they want from God and not what God wants. And when they don’t get favors from God they feel that God’s word does not work. But the reason they aren’t seeing any results is that they are only interested in God’s hands and not His heart. However, this has to change. You must choose to be different. If you truly know that God has been good to you and you truly appreciate all that He has done for you, then you shouldn’t find it difficult to respond to God and take His matters seriously. You shouldn’t drag your feet when you are invited to attend services where you will be instructed in the ways of righteousness. So I encourage you today to rekindle your passion for God and His house. Prove your love for Him by making yourself available to Him and rendering your services. True worship, is not in saying you believe in God or singing praises, it is responding to God and giving yourself to Him when He needs you to do certain things in His house. So do the needful and prove your love for God through your actions. You will be the one to benefit from it because your response to God connotes honour and He has said “…those who honour Me, I will honour, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed…”1 Samuel 2:30 (NKJV). Hallelujah!
