“…and one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks…” Luke 17:15 (NKJV)

One of the most important things to learn in our Christian walk is to give thanks always because the bible says, it is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:15). Now, beyond giving God thanks, it’s important to understand that true thanksgiving must be accompanied with joy and gladness. I mean, you cannot claim to say you are grateful to God when you are sad, you can’t say you are thankful when your actions speaks otherwise. In fact the proof to show that you are really grateful to God is the actions that follows. So it’s important that you align the true content of your heart with your actions. If you are truly grateful to God, it should be expressed in actions (words, songs and dancing). In our opening text, we see a vivid example of this. The bible recorded that ten men were healed of leprosy and only one came back to give Jesus thanks. Now, when he came, he didn’t come with a sad face, rather the bible says he “…returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks…” Luke 17:15 (NKJV). Did you see that? He came with a loud voice and fell down on his face. His actions were evidence that truly he was grateful. We don’t need anyone to tell us how grateful he was, his actions already described that already.

Therefore, when you give God thanks, do it rejoicing. Be truly happy and grateful, don’t fake it. Forget about the things that didn’t work and focus on the things that worked. They are the most important. The best kind of thanksgiving is the one done, when you remember the things He has done for you that you couldn’t do for yourself or purchase with money. So rejoice always and give Him a shout of joy as you thank God for all that He has done for you from the beginning of the year till date. Halleluiah!

When you are truly thankful, you will express it in actions!

Glorious God I am truly grateful for all you have done for me in my life, for all the times when the enemy thought they were winning, you delivered me and set me in the path I should follow. Only you could have done this, so I say thank you my father and I rejoice for all you have done in the name of Jesus. Amen!
