“…so now brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified…” Acts 20:32 (NKJV)

As you grow in your walk with God, one of the things you must learn to do is use God’s word to regulate your mood because it is the tool God has given to us to help us live a victorious life in this world. The situations of life can be very tough sometimes, that it begins to reflect in our mood, but refuse to allow your situation to steal your joy or determine your mood. Rather let God’s word be the determining factor of your mood. Refuse to subject your mood to the situations of life, instead subject your mood to the word of God because it is the best mood regulator in the world. Something you must understand is that, if you allow yourself to go according to the way things goes in your life, you will never be happy for most part of your life. Because in life, there are always too many things to spoil your mood. Either it is betrayal, backbiting, disappointments and the likes, there will just be something to put your mood to test. But when you are armed with the word of God, you will use it to control your mood and brighten up no matter what happens.

In the book of Acts 16:16-40, we see the story of Paul and Silas, how they were kept in prison for preaching the Gospel. One would expect that they would be feeling bad and depressed because they were in prison but they didn’t. The bible recorded that “…at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them…” Acts 16:25 (NKJV). Did you see that? Instead of feeling bad or feeling disappointed for being in prison, they turned the prison into a place of worship. Why? Because they had come to understand the word of God. So all they did was to do God’s word. And guess what? It brought victory at last because the bible says, “…suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed…” Acts 16:26 (NKJV). They did not only secure their release but they also secured everyone’s release as well, just by doing the word. So the question today is, what are you going through in your life right now? It might not be pleasant but use God’s word to regulate your mood and keep pressing on. The best awaits you. Praise God!
