“…. seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.…” Matthew 6:33 (NKJV).

Over the years, something I have discovered in walking with God is that what He seeks to give you is Himself and what He wants you to pursue in your walk with Him is His person and not His blessings. But sadly, that is not the case today. Far too many of God’s people are actually pursuing His blessings rather than His person. And when the blessings are not manifesting the way they expected, they begin to doubt the word of God or think that God isn’t faithful. In most cases, they even go as far as measuring God’s faithfulness in their lives according to their possessions. If their possessions aren’t much, they don’t think that God is faithful enough to them. But you know what? I found out that if you are truly going to walk in the blessings of God, you have to pursue God, not His blessings. The key to walking in the blessings of God is to pursue the owner of the blessings, not the blessings themselves. The reason is that if you pursue the blessings, you will never get them. You will only find yourself running in circles after so many years, which is the case of so many of God’s people who are just pursuing the blessings of God but are not interested in God and what He wants for their lives.

Beloved, if you are truly going to bear the kind of fruits that the Bible talks about and walk in the blessings of God, you must change your approach today. Pursue God and not His blessings. It is the pursuit of God that positions you for the blessings. It is the pursuit of God that helps you understand the blessings and walk in them. If you ignore God and His purposes, you have missed God already even though you are in Christ and go to church every time. You might say, but how is this possible? Well, it is simple. The scriptures are clear on this. It says, “…. seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you….” Matthew 6:33 (NKJV). Did you see that? This lets us understand what our approach ought to be like. Therefore, I encourage you to pursue God with all you have got. Now, when I say you should pursue God, I don’t mean that you should run after Him. I mean that you should focus on Him and what He wants from you, and everything you need will follow. In most cases, you wouldn’t even have to ask before He gives it to you. Halleluiah!

TODAY’S RHEMA

When you pursue the blesser, you will surely have the blessings!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Father, I am grateful for reminding me of the approach I am supposed to have in my walk with you. I, therefore, decree today that you are all that I need, so I choose this day to channel my time, resources and strength towards you and all that pertains to the kingdom in Jesus’ name. Amen!
