“…teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom…”

Psalms 90:12 (NKJV)

As a child of God, one of the things you must consciously do for yourself is to protect your tomorrow so that you can be fruitful, productive and live out your days. Sadly, not many people are conscious of this today. They don’t care about tomorrow and hence they don’t try to do anything to protect it. So when tomorrow finally comes they are either stranded or in a position where they cannot enjoy it. In my lifetime, I have seen so many people, who lived recklessly. They didn’t care about what the future was going to be like, so they lived today as though there was no tomorrow and in the long run, the results they got was nothing to write home about. Some contracted deadly diseases while others died before their time because they did not live with tomorrow in mind. However, the reality is that there will always be a tomorrow. Therefore, in everything that you do, live with tomorrow in mind. Whatever action you take, always consider the future which is tomorrow.

You may say, so how do I protect my tomorrow? It’s simple. Use today as your investment for tomorrow. Because your today, is what gives birth to your tomorrow. The things you do today will determine, what your experience will be like tomorrow. So the question is, what do you want your tomorrow to look like? Use today to walk in that path. For example, if you want to be very vast in the knowledge of God’s Word, use today to invest your time in studying the Word of God. If you want to have a happy marriage tomorrow, use today to invest in your personality and prepare for your marriage. It is what you prepare for that you have the right to enjoy. So in a nutshell, do not waste your “today” on frivolous things or prodigal living and your tomorrow will be better. Remember the bible says, “…do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the spirit reap everlasting life…” Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV)

If you use today wisely, tomorrow will be a blessing to you!

Glorious God, I thank you for teaching me how to number my days that I might apply my heart to wisdom. I will always walk in the path you want me to walk in and spend my time on the things you want me to spend my time on because I know that it will benefit me tomorrow. Praise God!
