“…honour the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase, so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine…” Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV)

Being in Christ is a one thing, another thing is to Honour Him with your life and possessions. This is one area where many are defaulting. They have received Jesus into their lives quite alright, they go to church but when it comes to honouring the Lord with their lives and possessions, they find it difficult to do that, either because they do not know that they are supposed to or they just don’t think it’s necessary. Well, I want you to know that as a Christian, it is important that you honour the Lord with your life and possessions. In other words, you are expected to use your life and possessions to follow Jesus and serve His purpose. Meaning, you have to live every day of your life in awe of God. You don’t do things that are contrary to His word and most especially, you take His word and covenant practices very seriously. An example of someone who lived like this was Papa Abraham. He so honoured God with His life and all that God said, “Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes and my laws…” – Genesis 26:5 (NKJV) So for this reason, Abraham was so blessed and the same blessing was extended to Isaac his son. That’s how powerful honouring God can be. In 1 Samuel 2:30b, the Lord said, “…those who Honour me I will honour, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed…” Did you see that? It lets us know that when we honour the Lord, He reciprocates that honour but when we do not honour the Lord, He says we shall be lightly esteemed.

So I admonish you today to honour the Lord with your life and with your possession. To honour the Lord is to do His will and carry out His commandments, like paying your tithe diligently, giving your first fruit, winning souls and honouring Him with your time and services. To honour the Lord is to abstain from evil and live a life that is pleasing in His sight. If you would do all these, God says, He will honour you and that means lifting you up and doing for you what you can never do for yourself. Therefore, be wise and do the needful. Abandon yourself to Him and never withhold anything from Him. Praise God!

TODAY’S RHEMA

If you honour the Lord, He reciprocates it by lifting you up and doing for you what you or any man can’t do for you!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Glorious God, I honour you this day with my life and possession, all I have is yours and I choose to use it to follow you now and all the days of my life in Jesus name. Amen!
