“…many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand…” —Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)

Many years ago, I was filled with lots of plans for my life. There was a certain kind of life I wanted to live and I did all I could just to try to make this plan happen but all I did ended up in futility. The more I tried to achieve those plans I had for my life the more it became impossible for me to achieve them. So, I began to ponder on why this was happening. When I pondered on it, I realized that God was directing me to go in the way of becoming a pastor but I didn’t like the idea at all because it was the opposite of my plan. I tried to run away from it, but the more I did, the more frustrated I became until I met a lady pastor who told me what I needed to hear. I narrated my ordeal to her and made her understand that what God wanted for me was not what I wanted for myself and that I really need to achieve the desires I have in my heart because this is what I wanted. I said this with a heavy heart. So, she looked at me smiling and said “you must remember no matter how good you think your plan is, God’s plans for you are still the best” On hearing this, the answer to all my questions was answered at that moment.

Suddenly it dawned on me, that as good as my plan can be, God’s plan certainly was better because He created me and He alone knows what is best for me. Years have come and gone, and today I realized that God’s plan for me was indeed the best. When I look back and compare what I am doing today with what I really wanted to do, I realized that God’s plan for me was indeed the best. Today, many people are struggling with the same thing I went through over the years. They are so carried away with trying to achieve a plan they think is best for them but the truth remains that no matter how good that plan is, it can never be better than God’s plan for them. Beloved, you must understand that the highest thing that can happen to you in your life is to submit to God’s plan for your life. It might not be what you want for yourself, it might not be what you have always dreamt of, but believe me; it will certainly be far better and more beneficial than what you think was best for you. God’s plans, you must remember are divine, they surpass reasoning and transcend time. If you will submit your will to it, I can assure you that you will be the one to benefit from it, so be smart. I do not know what you are battling with as you are reading this article, but I want you to know that God’s plan for you no matter what happens is still the best. “…. many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand…”- Proverbs 19:21 (ESV).
