“…And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day…” Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
Our world today is plagued with an endless desire for riches. Many today live only in pursuit of riches and have no time for God and His plans for their lives. When you speak to them about God, they’ll tell you they want to make money first. They will tell you that without money, they cannot really render their services to God. But is this how God wants us to live our lives? Of course not. Unfortunately, many do not know this, so they have taken many unwarranted risks in a bid to make more money. Many others have departed from God and even lost their lives in the process.
Beloved, this is not what God wants for us. While there is nothing wrong about desiring to be rich, you cannot leave God out of the equation. You must understand that going all out in pursuit of riches and abandoning God will only bring destruction. Sadly, this is where many of God’s people have missed it. However, as a believer in Christ Jesus, true riches is found in pursuing God for He alone can genuinely give you wealth with peace of mind. He can teach you the principles that lead to riches. All that is required is for you to be obedient and follow the path He wants you to follow. And when you finally acquire riches, you have a responsibility to remember God and His role in making you rich.
So, I encourage you today to go after God with everything you’ve got; and as you do this, remember that “…godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it…” 1 Timothy 6:6 (NKJV). Therefore, your goal in life is not to be rich to be in alignment with God’s plans and purposes for your life. Praise God!
