“…. I press towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus…” —Philippians 3:14 (NKJV)

It is a new month and a perfect time to set your gaze on the goal ahead. Often, when a new month begins, many people are fond of looking at the things that they have not achieved and tend to get discouraged because they feel that time is going and yet they have not achieved the things they want to achieve. There is nothing wrong with taking stock of your life to know where you are, but I have come to learn that, while it is important to evaluate your achievements from time to time, do not allow the things you have not achieved to be your focus. Your focus ought to be on the goal and not on the shortcomings. If your gaze is on the goal, even though you have not achieved the things you want to achieve, thoughts of the goal ahead, keep you encouraged and fired up to want to keep moving on. But if your gaze is on the wrong thing, you will lose the enthusiasm and the inspiration to move on.

Therefore, I encourage you to fix your eyes on the goal and not on the shortcomings. I know that when the year started, you had great expectations and a time frame in which you wanted to achieve certain things in your life but the truth is, even though things have not taken shape the way you want them, it does not mean it will remain that way. Things are bound to change and your expectations are bound to come to pass. So, keep holding on to your goals and aspirations but you must make a conscious decision to remain focused on the goal. Be like Paul the Apostle who was so focused on the goal he had to the point where he said, “brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus…” —Philippians 3:14 (NKJV). Did you see that? I admonish you, therefore, to focus on the goal, not the shortcoming. Whatever vision God has laid in your heart, or revealed to you, let that be your stronghold and focus and you will surely be victorious.

TODAY’S RHEMA

Fix your eyes on the goal and not on the shortcomings!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

Father, I thank you for reminding me of the need to keep my focus on the goal. I refuse to be distracted by the shortcomings and choose to set my gaze on the goal because therein lies my victory. Hallelujah!
