“…but the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self –control. There is no law against such things as these…”Galatians 5:22 (GNB)

As a Christian there are lots of things to learn from the scriptures to help you be the man or woman that God wants you to be. One of those things is being in control of your emotions. It is one area that you must master if you want to gain mastery in life. Believe me, a Christian is who is not able to control his emotions will live as a slave to his or her emotions and will be taken advantage of by others, because when it comes to his emotion, he is powerless. As simple as that might sound, it holds the key to how far a Christian will go in his or her life. Today you find that there are lots of people who are controlled by their emotions. They have no control over how they feel and it has brought to them lots of troubles, because they couldn’t control their feelings. Some are serving a Jail term today because they committed murder as a result of anger. Some have committed suicide because they fell in love with the wrong person and was disappointed. Some have become very depressed because they are not able to properly handle the situations they have found themselves.

But the question is, for how long will things continue like this? You have to take responsibility for your life and control your emotions. Your emotions was not given to you to rule you, rather it was given to you to express your feelings. Now, do not let it take advantage of you because that was not the original purpose for which it was given. God gave you emotions so that you can be a complete person able to express how he or she feels. He didn’t give it to you so that you can become subject to it. Therefore, begin today to exercise control over your emotions or feelings. Take charge of it and don’t let it dictate the pace. It is not compulsory to always go in the direction that it wants you to go. Be the one to make the decisions not your emotions. Be the one dictating the pace and most importantly, yield yourself to the Holy Spirit, because He was given to you to help you accomplish control in your life. In our opening scripture, the bible says “…the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self –control. There is no law against such things as these…”Galatians 5:22 (GNB). So part of what He produces in your life is self-control, submit to Him and you will protect yourself from all the dangers that goes with the lack of self-control. Remember, “…moderation is better than muscle, self-control better than political power…” Proverbs 16:32 (MSG). Halleluiah!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY

I acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life and I yield myself to His ministry in all that I do. I refuse to allow my emotions dictate the pace or win the vote, I refuse to allow my life to go in the direction of the desires of my emotion, rather I choose to follow the path God wants me to follow and I am achieving success by doing so in the name of Jesus. Amen!
