“…do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the price? Run in such a way that you may win… Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim, I box in such a way, as not beating the air.” 1 Corinthians 9:24, 26 (NASB)

Life is a journey, which we all are taking one step after the other. Some enjoy the step as they take it, but if there is a pothole somewhere, they think they cannot continue the journey anymore so they are forced to stop. But the truth remains that, though there is a pothole somewhere, it does not mean there are potholes every step of the way. We are expected to jump over the pothole and continue the journey. Potholes are a representation of hurdles and hassles that confront us on the way while we journey through life, but your determination to finish what you started will take you to the end of the road, your determination will take you home safely. A man who is not determined will never reach the finish line of his projects and assignment. Even when there are no potholes on the way, there are times when the road may just be very narrow and only people with skills and experience will be able to pass through the road safely. So it is important to remain on track, jump the potholes you come across in life. It helps you to acquire skills and experiences which ultimately, prepares you and makes you ready for the road ahead.

A man that lacks determination will find it hard to complete anything. I remember while we were in college, writing an exam wasn’t something anybody wanted to look forward to. Because the exams never came out easy, but if you are determined to pass, you stay dedicated to your textbooks and journals, then surely the exams always ended up easy. But those who took it lightly ended up submitting empty papers and failed at the end of the day. Now, as a Christians, you must understand that we definitely do not fail, because success is attached to us, and it’s consistent with our new nature in Christ Jesus. Therefore, be determined. Being a Christian does not mean you won’t go through challenges, it only means when challenges show up, you should be determined enough to develop skills to go beyond it and move to your next level. Praise God!
