“…. I know your deeds that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm- neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth…” —Revelation 3:15-16 (NIV)

While growing up as a young lady, I enjoyed a certain fantasy of being a Muslim by birth and a young churchgoer. I thought I could have them both. So, when I was asked which religion I belonged to (though Christianity is not a religion), I would say to them, “Chris-lam.” This, I felt, gave me an identity as a Christian and a Muslim. But now I know better and understand God’s stand concerning whom we belong and where we stand in our faith. Beloved, you either choose to be a Christian, or you are not. You either choose His side, or you choose the other side. It can’t be one leg in and one leg out. You can’t be lukewarm, and you can’t be in between. You cannot want to worship the idols of your father’s house, and at the same time claim, you are a Christian at heart. It won’t work. God has indeed given us the opportunity to make our own choices, but you must use this opportunity to choose one side or the other; you can’t be indecisive.

Joshua was clear when he spoke to the children of Israel concerning whom they choose to serve. He said, “…if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord….” Joshua 24:15 (NIV), Did you see that? As far as Joshua was concerned, he can’t be found dancing around his choice. This means we can’t mix serving the Lord or loving the Lord with serving another. It’s a decision we have to make; we are bound with a responsibility to make a choice. It’s my opinion that a man who wants to be lukewarm has also made a choice, and the choice he made is not choosing God, and this is the reason our Lord Jesus Christ said to the Laodicean church, “I will spit you out of my mouth” Revelation 11:16 (NIV). God doesn’t want to associate Himself with a man who isn’t sure of Him. Our God always looks out for faith and trust. A man that can’t choose God and stick to Him has no trust for Him or faith in Him, and God wants such an attitude changed today. If you have received Jesus Christ into your life, stick to Christ, do not be found with idols or in the gathering that exalts idol worship. If you have chosen the Lord, stick to Him and be fervent in your walk with Him. God bless you!

You can’t want to serve the Lord and the gods of your father. Choose today whom you will serve!

I declare today that I have chosen the Lord God Almighty, the King of Glory, the Lord of all lords because I know there is none like Him. I declare that I will not be found wanting or seeking or craving the attention of another God in the name I Jesus. Amen!
